On Friday January 17th, we finally launched the Culinary LifeSkills Program at QTSCD school. Organized and put in place by CDF and Chef Robert Danhi, in partnership with the dedicated teachers of QTSCD, this program is the first of its kind in Vietnam for hearing-impaired students.

The day began with the CDF team and Chef Robert Danhi joining the students in their morning classes. It was an amazing experience to see the children actively learning and engaging with their teachers. Later in the morning, interviews were conducted with Mr Hoa Tran one of the teacher in charge of the cooking classes and the vice principal of the school Ms Huong, offering deeper insights into the program’s vision and impact.
By 3 PM, everyone gathered in the indoor hall for the official ceremony, we were . The event opened with heartfelt performances, music by the blind and dance for deaf students, a very special moment for all of us. Mr. Huyen, Deputy Director of the Quang Tri Department of Education and Training, was present to witness this meaningful occasion. This was followed by the screening of a video that reflected the six months of dedicated work it took to bring this program to life!
To emphasize the importance of the program we continued, the day by listening to inspiring speeches from key figures, including Tam Nguyen, Chef Robert Danhi, the school principal Ms Hoa Le, and Yen Ben Vaui, a member of the Tribe.
After the speeches, the students, with guidance from Chef Robert, prepared beautifully arranged fruit plates for all the guests. It was a proud moment for the young chefs to showcase their newfound skills.
The day concluded outdoors, where everyone came together to plant vegetables in the school’s new garden. This activity symbolized growth, sustainability, and the exciting journey ahead for the students as they continue to learn and thrive.
