Handicraft for the Hearing Impaired Youth.

In the 2026–2027 school year, an inspiring vocational journey begins for 12 hearing-impaired youth aged 13 to 15 at Quảng Trị Special Education School. Running from September 2026 to June 2027, the Handicraft Program equips deaf students with practical skills in embroidery, sewing, and macramé crafting. Through hands-on training, students will create souvenirs—such as keyrings and holiday décor—and cloth items like tote bags and stuffed toys, with the ultimate goal of commercializing their crafts for sustainable self-reliance.

This meaningful project is funded by a generous grant of 4,920 Singapore dollars from the Rotary Club of Queenstown (Singapore) and is led by the host Rotary Club of Quang Tri as the main implementer. The Community Development Fund (CDF) is deeply honored to serve as a co-implementer. Strengthening this eco-friendly initiative, local partner A Chau Environment Company is contributing fabric remnants for the embroidery and sewing classes.

The 10-month curriculum follows a clear growth pathway:

• 3 Months: Students master basic cutting and sewing to produce simple tote bags and couch pillow covers.

• 6 Months: Learners advance to crafting quality embroidered bags and stuffed toys.

• 9 Months: The youth produce a wide, market-ready range of commercialized souvenirs.
