Brightening Smiles, Building Futures
Dental care for elementary school students
CDF Dental Program is dedicated to tackling the critical issue of poor oral health among elementary school students in Vietnam, particularly within the underserved communities of Quang Tri province.
Statistics reveal the urgent need for intervention: nearly half (46.5%) of children between the ages of 1 and 9 suffer from baby tooth decay, while 28% of children over the age of 5 have permanent tooth decay. This high prevalence is a barrier to overall health and academic success. The problem is particularly acute in rural areas where essential dental services are limited and parents often lack the financial resources to afford treatment.
Our program is designed to bridge this gap by bringing accessible, life-changing dental care directly to the children. Through the deployment of a dedicated mobile unit, CDF ensures that preventative and necessary restorative services reach those who need them most, ensuring every child has the opportunity for a healthy start.

Mission Impact: From Groundwork to Ongoing Success
The CDF Dental Program operates on a model of high-volume, high-impact missions, leveraging mobile dental units to reach children in even the most remote schools.
The Pioneering Missions (2019-2020)
The early phase of the CDF Dental Program laid the crucial groundwork for our current efforts. Supported by the Đông Hà Medical Center, our mobile dental team conducted two successful missions across 2019 and 2020 that provided comprehensive dental care and screening for an estimated 13,000 students across Đông Hà city. These missions not only treated acute issues but also established a sustainable framework for widespread, scalable dental health initiatives.
The 2025 Mission of Hope in Dong Ha
The commitment continues with targeted missions designed to serve highly vulnerable groups. A recent mission exemplified the program's dedication by serving 202 children in the Dong Ha area. This focused outreach provided essential services such as comprehensive dental screenings, professional cleanings, and preventative fluoride treatments. By bringing a dedicated mobile unit and compassionate dental professionals directly to the children, CDF continues to fulfill its mission of ensuring no child is left behind due to lack of access to care.
The Commitment
The foundation and ongoing expansion of the CDF Dental Program are powered by strong partnership and an unwavering vision for the future.
The program was initially launched thanks to the immense generosity and commitment of Gabby Morritt, a visually impaired American activist and the founder of the Florida-based nonprofit Eye Will. Recognizing the acute need for accessible oral health services, Gabby Morritt personally funded the initial dental care project in Quang Tri province.
A cornerstone of this commitment was the generous gifting of a fully-equipped mobile dental unit to the Dong Ha Medical Center through Eye Will’s support. This mobile unit is the essential backbone of our outreach, allowing dedicated medical teams to travel and set up high-quality dental clinics in remote school settings.
CDF and Gabby Morritt share a collective vision: to significantly scale this program to reach the tens of thousands of rural children who are currently in need of dental care. By focusing on preventative education, deploying advanced mobile technology, and fostering local medical partnerships, we are committed to expanding the program's reach, ensuring that every elementary school student in the region has the opportunity for a brighter, healthier smile.
